Day 1

Today our trip started pretty early as we all met at the church parking lot at 3:30 AM.  We flew out of Dulles @ 6:00 AM and left the 22 degree weather behind.  While we were traveling to Miami we had 38,000 ft view of an extremely beautiful sunrise.  It made me think about the same sun shining over all the countries on the planet.  Or was that … Son…

We had a smooth flight and got into Haiti on time.  We made it to the Guesthouse and met our hosts.  Here it is 90 degrees, and we all agreed that this is better than 22 degrees!

We were taken to the church we will be working on, to get our bearings and assignments, in the afternoon.  We met a few of the local people that attend this church.  It is a relatively small church but has had no repairs to it since the earthquake two years ago.

Then back to the Guesthouse for supper and devotions.  Another team is here from Oklahoma and two young ladies sat in during song time.  Allicia and Riley got a kick out of Rudy Meekins ukelele playing and his partner Jim Wall’s song leadership.  Everone finished the evening upbeat and eager to start our first work day tomorrow.

  1. So glad you had a good flight into warm weather and sunshine. I am looking forward to following your journey and seeing the awesome work that I know you will accomplish. I really regret not being there to participate and witness Jim leading the singing. I am sure he was awesome! Keeping you all in prayer. Blessings, Pam
